Did anyone notice Capt van Niekerk promote herself to opener when she thought she could fill her boots with cheap runs against Thailand? She has form for this... at the last WC she kept bowling herself against the tail of minnow nations and picked up loads of cheap wickets. I commented on it at the time..... seems she's up to her old tricks.... backfired this time though... only managed 2 runs

She opened in the first game against Eng as well, unless you think she viewed that as easy opposition to fill her boots against!

So she did. I hadn't noticed that. For some reason I thought she came in at 4 in that game. Seems I owe her an apology

Bates wasn't unexpected for me. Her scoring potential has been sorely diminished now that she so very rarely bowls.

I fully expected Kaur and Dottin to bowl, because they've been bowling regularly right up until the WC started. I suppose there is an argument that Kaur hasn't needed to bowl because the India bowlers have shone in this tournament, but that isn't true of the WIndies
