Ah bloody hell, i didn't read it right. I was thinking it was someone from Pietermaritzburg, but it was you saying KP was from there.

It's Ian Grieg.....although I cant remember him coaching Surrey, he did captain them after Sussex. And Tony went straight to the Comms box

Born in Barbados in the 50s, I would go on to have an international career spanning nearly a decade

Nope.

Considered a keeper to rival any of my day and a very handy batsman who once scored a double hundred in FC cricket, I nevertheless had a reputation for indiscipline. Before debuting in tests I was kicked off the I'll fated 75/76 tour of Australia only for my career to be saved by the interjection of Lance Gibbs, who insisted on giving me a second chance.

The very man.

Didnt think Id be getting an answer until we got to clues about rebel tours ending careers, or being the Son of Everton Weekes, but good knowledge.

Maybe its a question for Mike, but is there a naming convention thats different in the Windies? Just wondered why Murray never shared his fathers name, and in turn why Murrays son who went onto be keeper himself for Barbados, carried the name Hoyte.

Is it common to use the mothers maiden name?

Didn't know he was the son of Weekes. Just remember him being the keeper in the Packer years when Deryck Murray wasn't available.

He had a huge appetite for narcotics, Murray. Apparently the reason why he nearly got kicked off the tour, was scoring drugs from locals. Nowadays I read that he lives in abject poverty on his native island, after being blacklisted for the rebel tour. I think his father pretty much disowned him as he ran into problems, hence why it might not be known they were related.
