The maximum wage has been reduced by £20K too!

but could we not leave the budget at £1.5m so that more of the 30 players are actually chosen rather than down to luck in the allocations?

The budget was set deliberately at that amount. Having played a similarly based football game for a few years, I realised that one of the keys to how the game works well is setting the level correctly.

OK - will take your word for it, but I do seem to recall one of the key lessons from the first year was that too many of the choices ended up being down to the luck of the allocation. I'm not sure how the calibration has been done or what the objective was so I'm probably not best placed to comment.

The money you have is for the auction rounds. If I remember correctly, you dont have to fill a 30 man squad for this amount, an gaps in the squad are filled with the lottery

And if I remember correctly, the more money you have left unused, the better your chances of getting decent players in the lottery.

That said, I'm sort of on Red's side. I'd have rathered a much bigger budget this year, and no lottery.

That was the key lesson learned between years one and two!

In this type of game the budget could be set at umpteen billion and you would still need a lottery. The money spent would expand to that allocated.

I'm sure someone has calculated how the 1.32M was derived....

Not sure exactly how many players I had in my first draft, probably around your 25, but it totalled just shy of £3.5m!! Had to cut a few out.

Just sent my bids in, 30 players exactly 1.32 million. Had to use a spread sheet for the first time in about 20 years.

I had feeling getting 30 players within the budget was too good to be true so decided to check my total bids and found I'd bid a total 1.670,00. Had to reduce the number of players to 24. My lack of spreadsheet experience let me down.
