Ian, how are we doing the tie-breakers? I think I had Read, Ansari and Miles as tied but seem to have got 0 out of 3 whereas I guess you'd expect to get one or two if it was done randomly.

I was going to post this up but ran out of time this morning. I took the first digit of the 7th bid for each manager. Fir tied bids add the two numbers together then if the answer is odd then the first initially takes it and if it is even then the second takes it.

Will post the details later when I get a chance.

This is one bit that people struggle with each year, but I have yet to be offered a better option!

Yeah, it was explained last year Red, its basically the odds and evens game.

It means if one person has 10 bids that he draws with you, he always wins.... but then, you always win against others in the same way.

Am I correct in believing that if a player is not over bid in round 2 that player is automatically owned by the first round bidder?

We could just take the players out of the following round and just say the two posters bid again and the highest wins.

However, we should at least have a rule that says if you lose one tie-breaker to another poster then any following ties between those two posters should alternate. It feels wrong that we had two ties between us and both players go to the same poster. Not saying its intentional or personal in any way, but systems have their peculiarities and, at the moment, if 2 posters have 10 tied bids then I think one poster would get all 10 and the other poster would get 0 - just a peculiarity that we need to change imo. I agree that it's a difficult area to get right and I am pretty sure I wouldn't have foreseen this either!

I've just looked at the PM box and all PM's are timed so surely in the event of so called tied bids the first bidder according to the time on the PM is the top bidder, therefor there is no tie.

Surely tied bids only matter after round three as further bids in rounds 2 and 3 could change everything.

You are leading on the ones posted earlier today.

No one is won in the first round.

You can bid on as many players this round as your budget allows. Bids for players that have already received bids in the first round, must be greater than the previous highest amount.

Alternatively we could make a special concession that as organiser you are timed as lower than the fifth poster's PM time. Something along those lines anyway.

I thought you were the only person to see the bids, are you saying other posters know my bids before they post there's?

No one knows anyone else's bids (including me) before I post them. PMs are left unread in my Inbox until I post mine. That's one of the beauties of the game
