I have always scored them with first available five players, so in your scenario I would use subs.
so I should include subs for games where someone in the first 5 is not playing in a match that doesn't involve their country rather than just use subs where someone hasn't been selected ?
no prob with that as long as people know they are picking their squads on that basis
