I am definitely in agreement that the format that is currently in place is the wrong one. I remember watching/following the last World Cup and thinking when will this end - which is clearly not the right thing to be thinking about the spectacle of a global sport.

I feel that this is unfortunately what happens with every World Cup regardless of sport (as long as it is a fairly lucrative sport). Whilst I much prefer your format, I was wondering if it was possible to make the gaps between matches more even? Only because I note that India and Australia, just at a glance, have a week between Games 1 and 2 but then between Games 2, 3 and 4 there is a week in total. I am not saying the players can't handle it as they seem to play more cricket than baseball these days, I was just wondering.

There are indeed debates which are raised by mentioning his statistics abroad. I havent seen him play in bowler friendly countries in test matches as i watched him mostly in India-SRL games played at India or SriLanka. Tough for me to comment on that debate.

However, if i were to comment on him from his innings in India and SriLanka, he is an excellent front foot player on either side of the wicket. On back foot he is much better playing square cut and the glance to third man, rather than on leg side. As far his temperament he has proved it with doubles. Fitness wise he has hardly been injured or retired hurt due to dehydration like some other players. Yes, he has safe pair of hands and IMO his fielding is much improved in past two years.

If the experiment is deemed as success the ECB would replace the current Sunday Clydesdale40 over comp so there would not be any extra cricket to watch.

There is no intention to increase the number of games to be played.

The current 40 over league was retained after consultation with the Counties who wanted it retained because attendances were better than
T20 in many cases and more money was spent on food and beer over a longer period.

The T20 competition would still take place in the 4 week slot in June.

LOL - I was putting that down to the cold and a desire to get it down on paper asap - you certainly seem passionate about this!

I guess the logic behind it is that if you have a full 40 overs then the conditions may have changed by the time the second team bats - this would even that up to some extent. It is true that too often the toss seems to decide the winner - particularly for an early start in England where there is early juice giving help to the seam and swing merchants ...

Thanks Dimi.

Yes the specialist coaches can do a world of good for the issue of players being moderately good at everything. I like the idea of specialist coaches because a cricketer can always take coaching from specialist coaches if he wants to excel in a particular skill, be it batting, bowling, wicket keeping or fielding.

Personally I'd say that Canada have more of a future than the USA, both in terms of recent performances and the boards that control the teams.
